Living in the country, even if your getaway is off-grid, there are still ways to reward yourself. Wood hot tubs are handmade works of art in which you can luxuriate for health, to get a better night’s sleep, or just kick back and enjoy your acreage—many can be heated with wood, solar, electric, or gas.
Check out some of the stunningly beautiful wood hot tubs from these manufacturers.
SNORKEL HOT TUBS
For an off-the-grid existence, the idea of a warm soaking tub seems an unattainable luxury—most are heated by gas or electricity. However, there is at least one to save you from DIY-ing your own.
Snorkel Hot Tubs invented underwater wood-fired hot tubbing. The company claims it operates just like any other wood stove or fireplace, only the burning chamber is submerged. With the stove being in the tub, there are no pipes or water jacket to freeze and burst.
Snorkel’s highly-crafted Western Red Cedar hot tubs are four to eight feet in diameter…and also offered with gas and electrically-heated options.

FOREST COOPERAGE
This environmentally responsible cooper built their first hot tub in 1998, using Western Red Cedar because of its resistance to decay and dimensional stability. These wooden barrel hot tubs are handcrafted in the traditional cooperage style of construction; a method standing the test of time with wine barrels.
Forest Cooperage says they exclusively use vertical grain in Hot Tubs and Japanese Soaking Tubs (Ofuro) for dimensional stability and long life. Tubs use four stainless steel hoops on a 4 foot high tub for even pressure on the wood joints for less chance of leaking.
Forest Cooperage produces Cedar Barrel Hot Tubs, a Cedar Barrel Sauna, Cedar Oruro-style Japanese Soaking Tub, and a Cedar Cistern.
