It’s an exciting time for gardeners as seed and garden companies start sending out their new 2024 catalogs. There are a lot of exciting new vegetables to grow in your garden. Here are a few of our hand-picked favorites from Jung Seed Company.

Blue Lake Superior Bush Bean

In our summer trial garden, this bean proved itself superior in every way. The upright plants out-yielded the comparison variety by producing an abundance of 5-½ to 6-inch dark green, tender pods, even during hot and dry conditions. These beans have fantastic flavor, as all Blue Lake types should, making it a top choice for home canning, pickling, and freezing. Blue Lake Superior Bush Beans are resistant to Rust, Curly Top Virus, and Bean Common Mosaic Virus.

Dragonfly Hybrid Pepper

You will love these sweet, flavorful, purple peppers. They were a 2022 AAS Winner. These peppers have a juicy, thick wall which helps the fruits hold longer after harvest. The 4-lobed bell peppers average 3-½ inches and are just as delicious when picked green as they are at the mature purple stage. Fruits will turn red if left to fully mature on the plant. The Dragonfly Hybrid Pepper is a highly prolific plant resistant to Tobacco Mosaic Virus.

Fireball Hybrid Pumpkin

This new, novelty pumpkin is sure to light up your fall display. The rounded yellow orange, lightly warted fruits display green stripes which change to orange as they mature. Sporting incredibly dark handles and averaging 9 pounds, the Fireball Hybrid Pumpkin will add wonderful variety to pumpkin patches. It is a vigorous plant with an intermediate resistance to Powdery Mildew and Zucchini Yellow Mosaic Virus.

Godzilla Hybrid Broccoli

The Godzilla Hybrid Broccoli is a unique new broccoli with firm, small, beaded florets that form heavy heads sitting in a mid-high position on plants for easier harvest. Leaf attachments are small and lower on the stem, allowing for quick trimming. The non-woody stems are edible.

Grinch Dwarf Cherry Tomato

This cherry tomato is sweet and deliciously flavorful. The Grinch Dwarf Cherry Tomato is green to slightly yellow with 1 to 2 ounces of plum-shaped fruits which occasionally have a small tip on the blossom end. The plants have potato leaf foliage, grow up to 4' tall and should be supported. Great for containers and determinate in growth.

Moonshine Yellow Hybrid (SH2) Sweet Corn

Moonshine Yellow Hybrid (SH2) Sweet Corn is delectably sweet with outstanding flavor. The 8" ears have good husk protection and are filled to the tip with 16 to 18 rows of extra sweet, yellow kernels. High-yielding plants have intermediate resistance to Stewart's Wilt and Northern Corn Leaf Blight. This sweet corn offers excellent cold soil emergence for those in areas with cool spring weather.

Polar Bear Hybrid Pumpkin

These large, white pumpkins retain their color in outdoor displays. The skin is smooth with slight suturing and won't turn beige if left in the field too long. Fruits typically average 30-65 pounds. However, if growing conditions are ideal, Polar Bear Hybrid Pumpkin may grow 100 pounds or more, making them great for carving.

Tricked You Hybrid Pepper

Enjoy jalapeno flavor without the heat! Tricked You Hybrid Pepper tastes like its hot relatives, but without the pain. The bushy plants are resistant to bacterial spots and yield a profuse crop of thick-walled, deep green, 4-inch fruits that mature from green to red. This pepper is perfect for mild sauces and salsas.

Tutti-Frutti Cherry Red Baby Hybrid Tomato

These cherry tomatoes are super sweet and flavorful. The fruits are described as having a honey-umami flavor. Tutti-FruttiTM Cherry Red Baby Hybrid Tomato are high-yielding, healthy plants which produce long trusses of fruits, even in cooler conditions, ensuring a good supply of glossy red, juicy tomatoes for snacking and salads.
